Problems playing as an Elite

I am trying to re-work the campaign maps to play as an elite. I have been successful in doing so, but I have encountered some problems. The most evident of these is the inability of the Elite to do some things required by some levels, such as getting into the back seat of a pelican on Silent Cartographer. Is there any way for me to fix this? Also, how can I say transfter the elite into a multiplayer level or one of the stages without an elite in it?
