I made a very good (in my opinion at least) level in 3DS, and the skybox makes 3DS crash when I try to export it... if it was ok with someone, could I upload them the file and could they go over it for me?? I seriously have no idea what to look for...

Make sure it is linked to a frame.

Did he/she saved it as max or as another file?

did you link it backwards?
(frame to skybox instead of skybox to frame)

I can extract the map from 3DS into a .JMS file when the skybox isnt linked to the frame, when I link the skybox to the frame (skybox to frame) then it wont extract; my 3ds freezes.

Wait... If you don't link the frame to the skybox shouldn't Max give you the "There are no actors to export" error?

You have to link vice versa but yeah you are right

the only thing I can think of is that my 3ds is messed up; I just made another map with the same bitmap but a bit more simpler, and I still wont extract and now it even freezes when i select the skybox and go to the edit mode... I don't suppose anyone would be willing to try and extract my .max's with their 3ds and see if it still freezes?
