Well, I used to model weapons a long time ago but I quit for a while and this is my latest model...Started about 1 hour ago so that is why there are still some rough spots and not that much detail. I would just like some suggestions.

I modeled that same gun a few weeks ago. The basic form looks good, but like you said, it really needs a lot of detail.

The shape's a bit off, are you using a reference picture?

Also... it's just a tad on the boxy side... and the magazine really doesn't need rounded edges.

for God's sake... use a reference image. you're way off. stop tracing with splines, and use plane modeling. when you trace with a spline like you did, you end up with this goofy looking, one dimensional weapon.

You can get more or less spot-on models with splines. Just takes a lot more time and effort.

Barrel is way to long, it looks like one block

It looks like you modelled it with one side reference. Next time you model a gun get a lot of refs for it if you want it to be accurate from all sides.

No need to be rude. I said I was new okay? I just started this model. Plus, the barrel really is that long...I know because I saw it in pictures.

when posting something asking for feedback you have to open and ready for any critism. as rude as snafs may seem he is right and i agree with him >_>. theres a difference between just flaming and being a douche and citisising.

(and that wasnt really a rude post >_>)

more on topic it is quite ugly :? learn plane modeling or use katarn's gun modeling for dummies

Plane modelling something does not automatically make it look good. If I were you, Spark, I'd work on getting the shape spot on, then adding details.

For God's sake people, plane modelling gives you cleaner models and allows you to add more detail because of that, but it won't just rescue any model and make it awesome. Sheesh.

There are those who can make better looking models using different Techniques.

Now I'm going to say this once and only once:

Plane modeling is the BEST way to model GUNS, end of discussion.

I didn't dispute that. I disputed the view that just because something's plane modelled, even if it looks like a piece of shit, doesn't mean it's automatically good like some people think.

yeah i know what you mean, people assume if they plane model it will be the best thing.
