I'm finally announcing the map I have been by myself making for almost 5 months. This is my first level but I think that it is turning out great. The geometry is mostly finished, but I still need to get my textures correct  . I'm going to create custom textures for the level itself, and try to create custom textures for the vehicles. Currently I have one custom texture that has its own bump map that looks awesome IMHO :D .

I have a site that has all the images, but if too many people come and look I may need to start paying to get more bandwidth  . Right now, it's just a free account. Before my current project, it was a hobby site that I stopped updating, which is now gone.

I want your honest opinion of the level, like the sky, colors, and lighting. Also point possible imbalances and problem areas.

not to double post but, all the images are up :D !!!

Also as it appears, I do need help with uvw mapping. I would prefer with someone who has a lot of experience with the gmax uvw mapping and/or earlier versions of 3ds max, around version 5 or so *whatever version gmax was built off of*.

the map seems waaay too big... Its like a 64 player map its so giant...

it feels big, but when you get in the hog, you can cross it within 20 seconds or so. I made it so that you feel small, insignificant even. You look up and you see the tops of cliffs high above you. You look down the cliff and the bottom is far below. Everything is large compared to you.

What do you think of the sky? Its from the last level of the halo campaign. I don't know if it is legal though, would it be considered ripped content or no?

Also how do you feel about the vehicle options? The defaults and allowed? And what do you think of the vehicle placement itself?

Finaly who could I trust to test the map? I don't know how it will pan out with small ammounts of people *1-6* and large groups *8-16*.

This is for halo ce right? i might be able to convince my dad to let me put it back on the computer and i can beta for you... ask ppl like beef, maca, yomama, and ppl like that who have been here for a while... they will tell you that i am trustworthy for this (that is, if i can get the game back on my comp)

suggestions: as for the turrets, those should fire faster, or a different projectile, to make them actually worth using, since those turrets w/o mods wouldn't be worth using. as for the vehicles, i would have to see the map in action to tell you if theyre any good. I will let you know how it goes with my dad tomorrow, since its probably too late to ask now...

cool thx. yep, its for ce. When i can start betaing the map then i can see what to do with the turrets. I could increce the damage, when they get goign they do go fast enough I believe.

any other suggestions? and what about the sky?

*UPDATE*

I have updated my site and added a new page called Ideas
It contains ideas of what I'm planning to add or adding right now. Only major things are going to be displayed.

I'm adding colums to both basement hallways leading to the ruins and the bridge. Even though I only have the colums and no walls, it looks awsome ^^.

Unwrap UVW for god's sake. Those cliff's textures are really stretched out.

tell that to gmax... it hates uvw mapping.

Once i get done with my modeling I will resume trying to work on it afterwards. Right now I have all but given up because no matter what it doesn't take to the UVW mapping.

ok, in gmax...you can uwv map. unwrapping is very different, but you cna at least uvw map it. it's quite simple...although i've hardly had much time to use gmax, the 1 time i did-i was skinning something for someone...

good luck. Looks great so far.
