Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Reskins turn black at distance

Post by Scoliosis »

First off im working with halo 2 here

I extracted the magnum bitmap and edited with the paint shop pro dds plugin. I changed the colors from black to whte and injected it back into my map. But when I start the game the magnum is black from a distance. When I saved the bitmap I saved it using current mipmaps. Where did i go wrong?

When you open up the skin in Photoshop, and it asks if you want to display mipmaps, click No. Later, when you save the skin as a .DDS, click Generate Mipmaps. To make a long explaination short, doing this makes your skin visible from all distances away, not just a medium to short distance away. Hope this helps.

Hmm, I'm surprised. That's how you fix that problem on Halo 1. Oh well, I'm not the guy to be talking to about Halo 2, anyway.
