do you editable mesh, or editable poly model?

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

well, the subject says it all, when you start making a model, after making the basic shape, do you convert the shape to editable mesh, or editable poly?

personally, i convert it to editable poly b/c u can use the cut and quickslice tools. It also helps keep the poly count way down.

Use both edit mesh and edit poly they both have ups and downs

Dude. No. Do you even know who Katarn and Snaf are? They are some of the few 1337est modelers that have ever set foot in CE. =D

um...yeah, HaloBuddha, i use extrude all the time w/ polys. that's why i use them so much other htan the obvious advantages of the cut and quickslice tools.

however, editable mesh is good in that it can easily make maps b/c of it's tesselate tool, although all this really provides it certain degrees of detail and can sometimes give you WAY too many polys (although, when 10,000+ polys are shaped with a displacement map, it shows it's power... )

poly, cuz you can use the remove tool for excess vertices and lines, ect. after im done, just simply comvert to mesh, then you have very few degenerate triangle errors in tool

Editable poly. Because it's easy to plane model that way.

Well, my good buddy Katarn says editable mesh is bad. It creates bad geometry. For instance, when I switched back and forth between enditable's, on a couple of my models, the damn program would weld random stuff to other vertices for no damn reason, with absolutely no way to fix it. Editable poly is much faster to use when modeling. The create face tool really speeds up your modeling. As opposed to the create poly tool, which you have to make each and every poly individually. Editable poly has a much better UI. It works alot faster and easier.

I don't model that much anymore, I tried making a model earlier today and it just sucked. I tried connecting two different elements in the model, while in editable poly mode, and the damn thing wouldn't let me connect the two elements with polygons. I had to switch to editable mesh back and forth to get it to connect.
