Gun Modeling?

For some reason I try to export remodeled guns in 3DS Max 7 and I get a error when i export as JMS, No actors to export or something like that, help?
make a box. Name it: frame
then, link the model to the box by:
clicking the link tool, on the toolbar, to the left
select your model, click and drag onto the box.
export again.
