before you go and make a user name like "l33tmodeler" you better be one. this is pretty well... not "l33t"...

According to the poll, i cannot choose for this has no skin. The Halo...halo was probabl made the same way, but with some smoothing and the skin.

So, i suggest waiting until something is finished before posting because some people here are just very picky and will put you down hard, even if you tried.

So, for the most part, post when finished.

Me, and many others, would probably prefer a kickass finished model, than an unfinished dull model.

Maybe you should try using a vray displacement map then post a model, that would wow a few people.

Wow. Real nice replies guys! Thanks! You REALLY make people want to be here!

/sarcasm

1. this is my first model in a looooooooong time.
2. I don't really have anything to model yet.
3. A friend wanted me to do this, so I did it. I thought I would post it here.

Do not 'assume' I'm some 'noob' with no experience in modeling. I have modeled perfect models for a long time. I drew up some drawings last week, and am going to start on making them in 3d today.

And no I didn't just 'chamfer a tube'. I made a flat polygon in the shape of the segment of a ring, and extruded it out from there. I had to individually place each and every segment so it was round.

An about the skinning:

1. I can't skin.
2. Can't figure out how to apply a skin.

Lower your expectations people, jeuse.

create a UVW map to create a nice skin. i believe Katarn created a nice video tutorial about how to do this at his site.
http://www.videotuts.net/phpnuke/

and then once you created a skin, open up max
hit M on your keyboard
then click one of the circle things and find where it says difuse.
then click on the box and then it should open up another window.
double click bitmaps and find your skin.
then click and drag the sphere thing and put it over your model.

simple material applying ^_^ well.. not the way to import in halo but bleh

Ok, I will try it. But, at the time I posted this I was very tired and bored.

I know now that this is a pretty pointless post.

I'll rip the skin off the Halo 1 model and place it on this.

Or you could get some skill and make your own skin instead of ripping Bungie's. And besides, that model is WAY out of proportion. Halo is 10,000 km in diameter, and only a hundred or so wide (judging by its width in-game). Your model is also too thick.

No need to continue to put him down people....

How about adding your own detail to the model? Make it better than bungies?

Great idea! Yeah I onlyn noticed the proportionate problems *After* a friend sent me the extracted Halo model. The thing is tiny! And oh so thin. I wish I knew how to skin. Any tuts some one might show a fella?
