INDICE PROBLEM: WHAT R THEY EXACTLY?

Im having an indice problem im trying to put an edited model of the cyborg back into Halo PC using HMTv3.5 and it tells me

Error: cant inject. indice problem
maximum indices allowed for this model: 3867
your model has: 4105

to help me find our how to fix this can someone plz tell me what indices are exactly? thx

well this is modeling for CE but il help you out. If you edit a model in halo PC it has to have the same number of verticies and faces. Basicly you can only move them around to make more models. So if you save a pistol that has 3000 verticies the edited model MUST have 3000 verticies.

there could bve two reasons...
1...did you make a new model?
2...if you moved them...using what program.
Becuase 3ds max adds unknown verticies to the model.

yeah i used gmax and moved some vertices around with a model i exported and it tells me there are to many indices when i import it.

get milkshape3D...il get a link in aminute. That one works well.

i had it but my time expired and it wont let me save..

are there any other good programs to use?

ok, well then look to make sure your injecting the same model you saved out of.

well milkshape is a good one. But look for MAYA. google it. I think thats a good one for obj modeling. Correct me if im wrong.

so far ive searched that its not free and kinda pricy can u think of any others?

..and if anyone else can think of other 3d programs that would be cool thx


and also i heard of "wings 3d" or somthin like that is that free and good for .obj modeling?

Wings 3d
Blender 3d
Anim8tor
just a few. might want to try all of them. all are free

i tried wings 3d but it added indices just like gmax...
and blender is confusing... i mean really confusing...
time to try nendo and anim8tor.


EDIT: Anim8tor works but for some reason it wont import some .obj files... if anyone knows why plz tell
