i could do that. If i had a workstation comp with 4 gigs of ram and dual xeon processor and a few terabytes of space. And a few weeks. And some more skill.
Excalibur: id hunt him down and jerk him off
Excalibur: and drink the gallons of cum that come out
that was not all done by hand, It's called ...uh....what's that called... arraying and then welding (in a traditional sense) he probably used a lot of tools not available in max. He most likely used c4d.

don't you guys actually read what it was made with??? it's a PLUGIN for MAX. it's all set and ready to go... just set your paramaters and it generates the parts....
Dude. No. Do you even know who Katarn and Snaf are? They are some of the few 1337est modelers that have ever set foot in CE. =D
Well, its not bad but it is all easy to do, for the bit that shows cross section, thats just pure easy with some lofting, for all of the spinny bits you could do an easy array modifier, you could lathe half of it. The rest is just boxes with extrusions with a wire which is just a spline that is renderable and turned to EM or EP. The materials are poor and the general render is rubbish. The detail is nice but still is all simple, I could model that in.. 3-5 hours.
