Read the HEK tutorial. Just put water!$ as the shader name.

in the hek tut there is only a stream can you make a tut?

The same thing for a stream works on any other body of water.

a stream makes the mater moves, he wants stationary water.
Waverunner, it doesn't matter what the water does, thats based on the shader. All you need to do is add the "$!" shader symbols to the end of the material name in 3ds max. Make sure the name of the material that you apply to the water is the same name as the shader_water tag.

well for an ocean just make a plane and name it water!$ and the material <name>!$ but i get a whole in it which stinks.
