Couple o' Questions

Like the subject says, I got a couple of questions for all of you who read this post!
1. How do you make water in 3ds max 6 for a custom halo CE level?
2. I'm planning on making a couple of boats for my level, and I'm wondering - would it be possible to set the vehicle up so it cannot run unless it is in the water? I don't want people driving around my level on land with a speedboat, lol.
Thanks to anyone who answers my questions

1. i would like to know too.
2. dont think so, unless u had no other vehicles than boats and your water was lower than land, then u could set the vehicle roof thing to the height of your land

Create a plane (for the water, or whatever shape you want it to be).
Now, give it a material with the name "water!$" no quotes.

I heard you have to make a shader too. Is that true? The HEK tutorial only ways how to make a flowing stream, and thats not what I want... I want stand still water...
All I have to do is give it that material name? Is that it?

well I'm gonna try what sunny said but I dont think thats the way.In the HEK tut it says to make a plane at the surface of the water and name it
+unused$ then make a +unused$.shader_transperant_water then make a .fog tag in gurilla.I did waht the tut said and it worked except that the water is invisible and you can't see it I think its cause I didn' put a materrial on ht e plane in 3ds Max 7

No offense the guy but you spam alot. Anyways wich tutorial did you get this from? If its the one i am thinking of then its wrong. And yes you need to have a texture applied to the surfaces that make up the water.

That so. You can use water!$ and it still works. Like how you make ladder%^ etc. And the shader should be called somthing like water oor sea w/e the purpose of the water is for.
