I'm new to halo mapping and I have looked everywhere for good mac mapping tools. The only program I could find was a simple HexEditor that is not very easy to use. Are there any programs that I should look for in particular or should I just use Virtual PC.

You can use a mac 3d modeling software to create a map geometry, then send it to someone with halo pc to texture and to put in game if you really wanted to.

Or you could plead for help like me :D! Download wings 3d, its complicated to use, but once you get the hang of it, well.. its still complicated but it gets less confusing... Read Saintopia, that thread was made by me, and I am also a mac user. If you give good enough descriptions and some help from photoshop, and even some of your own creations, you can get really close to making a decent map, or at least get people thinking about how to make awesome weapons *Cough* scimitar *Cough* or even new vehicles, It takes alot of work on your part to check up on your thread and ask lots of questions on how stuff is coming, to remind the viewers, that the map might make it out ok. And if your a new guy, I leave you with this, I would go on to other things like how to use HMT and Hex edit first, that way you can contribute something to the mac community and figure out the basics of modding instead of blindly charging into the abyss of making a map.. which we can't do with out the help of these awesome PC'ers...which i did, but it seems Saintopia might come out some day in the future. If people like the design of your map, they will help you out. I just thought of making a map in my free band at school, so i drew this, then after school i made the overview of it on PhotoShop, then posted here. It takes alot of work but you can do it.

Okay, thanks. I will try these stratagies but if I do choose to use Virtual PC, do you think it will be able to handle the programs. Or do the programs take up to much CPU.

I have no idea, but that is an idea - however I do not know if that would work, because I don't know if you need halo for pc also...

The HEK is pretty intensive, even high-end computers have a little trouble with it. My guess is the Mac couldn't handle it..
