massive problem

how the hell am i supposed to rig up bipeds?, i have been trying for 2weeks now, got a sweet cortana model, (damn she's fit, anybody else obsessed with her?:D)
anyway, the bones i create are flippin massive!, bigger than her! even when i scale her up, and even then they are on the wrong axis, i have payed attention to the biped rigging tutorial but it does not even mention my problem, and another thing when i scale her up, she looks like im lookin at her through a fish eye lens, weird huh? i have 3D Studio max 7
oh and anyone know how/if i can get her skin looking like it does in game? with the scrolling code in her? would it work? i have this lame version i did but its smaller than a grunts penis and the skin looks nothing like ingame
