Noise modifier?

I'm trying to create some terrain with the noise modifier. First, I make the plane, thenI convert to mesh, tesselate whatever prepare it blah, blah, blah Then I select the polys I want noised, and go to modifiers -> parametric deformers -> noise, and set the noise Z to 500, and it makes a random terrain.


But then I go and select the editable mesh on my modifier applied modifier list, and the random noised terrain, is gone! I siwtch back and it reappears, but I can't edit the terrain with editable mesh!

I searched but found nothing. Does anyone know what's going on here?

don't go backwards in the heiarchy.... just right click on the mesh in the viewport and convert it to editable mesh.

yes i know it's already a mesh, but just do what i said.

Just use the noise modifier, then when u finished right click on the mesh, go convert to editable mesh and it should be fine...
