Noob question: What is STL check?

I saw some people talking about STL check and I assume it checks for open faces, but I couldn't be sure and furthermore I don't know what program runs it -
If it does check for open faces (and I realize by that conversation in "last stand" that it is not 100% effective) I would be interested in knowing where to Download it.

..Do you have to make a new thread for every different question you have? Cant you just make one thread with lots of questions?
An STL object must define a complete and closed surface. A STL-Check modifier will test your geometry before export your object to STL. But since we dont export to STL, we just use it to check for a complete closed surface.

LoL, I've found it a lot easier to get answers to specific questions if your thread title accurately represents the question you are wanting answered.
In my history of being online, I've seen a whole lot of threads with a whole lot of questions that never get answered. Perhaps there is a different culture in this forum.
Thanks for the great info - I'm presuming STL check is in 3dsmax..I'll find out when I install it, unless someone cares to bless me with that info first.
