Post by xnodunitx »

Okay after modelling all that supplies I got bored,so after the shotgun shells I decided,eh what the hey,I might as well model a shotgun,so here it is,my very first weapon moddelled, sorry no fancy renders.

And heres the real thing http://img15.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img15&im ... gun1ni.jpg

I'm still not exactly done yet,but opinions and suggestions are welcome.

Love it.

A suggestion

Make the stock connected like a real shotgun. Then thats it. Good job.

Maybe it'll be better is you remove the overlaping surfaces, the smoothin and add more detail.

Currently working on the detail today, problem is that I cant find a good picture of the top of this tactical shotgun...any ones I found are always side pictures which are okay but they are tilted so I cant get a full detail premise, the stock,if you mean the very back is connected in the model, its just the way the real shogun looks that gives off that disconnectedlike look.

http://img15.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img15&im ... gun1ni.jpg This shotgun and this one http://www.cmmginc.com/cmmg_images/tbl_ ... cal_A2.jpg are the same one, sept for the stock which I am also working with, the handgrip somehow doesnt look right to me though...ah well...anyway I suppose I should get to work on it.

It would only appear fo rthe host. Everyone else would need the modded map in order to see it. Also, for the model try another method of modeling than box modeling. Try plane modeling for it (look around these forums for a plane modeling tut).

Spline is much better than anything else, NURBS and spline dominate, ive met alot of people in the gaming industry and they agree.

Spline modeling may be quicker but you get little detail out of it and it looks put together in a sloppy way.

What?! No way, spline gets the most detail, totally accurate, and it doesnt look sloppy at all!

You obviously havnt seen what you can truely do with spline.. Let me show you somthing I have done in spline:
(This took about 4 hours) (This is/was supposed to be my head, havnt done the hair)

I'm talking about when it comes to weapon modeling and stuff.
Yah sure Spline modeling is good and all but not for weapon modeling.

<_< >_> wowsers. yah i don't like spline modeling for weapons. chamfering gets er uh... sloppy for me. in my hands, plane owns spline. but, then again, it's different for other people. Sonictag, i'm going to pm you a site that i was checking out a spline modeling tutorial for a car, and i hope you can tell me if it's crap or if it's right on the money. thanx :D
