Well, whilst playing Halo 2, me and my friend were screwing around. When it hit us. We came up with a tremendously awesome and funny idea for a map. I have a few questions though.

1. Is it possible to have the entire map animated? Like say it was a giant platform, and it was constantly going up?

2. Would there be a way to make that say platform keep going up and never stop? Or would that be impossible?

3. Would it cause lag? If so, how much?

The animated part is part of a forerunner structure that will be in the map. It has to be able to be ridden on.

Make a whole map animated? Not unless you dont want it to be played ever, its possible, but if you want a platform to go up, you cant, what that asteroids map did is making basically the surroundings spin, so thats what you could do.

For question 2, it is not possible to make it stop, it will always loop the animation, unless there are some tools that can stop that with the halo editing kit.

It will only lag (very much) if you animate the ground which you walk on, but if you animate the "Space" area, you will be fine.

What if I made it so nothing is animated, just that the floor moves up? No individual objects just the floor you stand on moves up? Like the platfroms in the library on Halo 1?

well, you could make it so that your just standing on the ground, but the walls could be animated, to look like they are going down, so it just looks like your going up .

Pull a Halo2 trick and make the sky bitmaps move instead of the map itself.

Well, I had this idea to make the whole map an elevator. We got the idea from the glass elevator on the level regret. At first we thought we could have it glass and stuff, and be just big enough to fit 16 players inside (with just a little manuvering room). As well as adequate space above to jump on peoples heads and what not.

But then, I thought of a kool idea of the elevator being a human one, going down the outside of a slanted building, while being able to see a small city outside. Throw in some rocket launchers and FRGs and we got ourselves a fun map lol.

Oh yeah and we were hoping to add "elevator music".
