Or you can get HMT and extract a higher quality model from a map than in the reference files

Go to Merge from the File Drop Down menu and select the tutorial .max scene. Then select the object named "Master Chief" and click Ok. Then press H and double click on the master chief. Then toggle the move mode/button but instead of left clicking like you normally do, right click. A small box comes up. On the left are three text fields for coordinates. Type 0 in all of them. That should move him to the middle of the board. Don't scale him or it defeats the purpose of a reference model. Either you can do that or create a box that's the Master Chief's size which is roughly 30x30x70.

if something is rigged what does that meen? does it meen it has bones placed?
