What is "cache00x.map"

What is "cache00x.map" I can't find it in the HALO/MAPS folder, plus what is an output file? and where do you put it? Like I downloaded the outputs,
bloodgulch.txt and I have no clue what it is or wehre to put it! Like http://home.comcast.net/%7Enickhbo/halofaq/CMX.txt that webpage for instances, I can't figure out what it means, Some one please help me.
