click on the teapot on the left, then under one of the tabs is "force wireframe" you can also change the thickness of the wire.

Stop flaming. All you do is point out the bad things of models. It's really pissing me off. You did a good job Burnination.

hey, katarn. i have to say that you are absolutely brutaly honest. i can appreciate honesty, but people do need help going in the right direction.

i'm saying that when you say "bad poly distribution" or "wastage" or "lack of detail" can you please explain that? i mean you know what you're talking about but a lot of people don't.

and the poly count is pretty high. did u run the optimizer modifier? sometimes it doesn't bring the count down, it actually brought my pistol's up.

Just go to the modifier tab, and select Optimize(r).

yes, that is obvious, but what does it do

Depending on the amount you set (percentage) you can lower the amount of polies. Good for LODs and collision models.

optimize modifier isn't a good way to optimize, it leaves open edges and fucks it all up. here's some tips: only use editable poly, use the insert vertex and remove frequently. model every detail on the reference picture, then if the polygon count is too high, get rid of some details. make sure to use the bare minimum amount of polygons to areas like the grip (on pistols) and use proper smoothing groups on them, you wouldn't be able to tell if the grip were 1000 polies, or 50. i think i'm going to make a topic all about weapon modeling, what to watch out for, tutorial links, etc. i'll get it stickied.

After that, i think i'll leave halomods, for good. i'm going to ask grenadiac for an ip ban so i can't come back. it's like a bad habit.

thanx for the info, katarn. that would be great if you got that topic and all :D

lol, so you try to leave but just have the urge to come back now and then? lol.

Open edges on a gun it fine though....anyhow, the topic all about weapon modeling would be awsome and that would deserve front page :D
