Maya to 3ds max geometry mess up?

When i make my models (bases and such for maps) in maya and use the .fbx export/import into 3ds max it screws up all my geometry (smooths hard edges even when i tell it to keep them)and doesn't recognize the booleans from maya. can someone please help me with this? btw i am new to 3ds max but am cathing on fast, can some one plz tell me how to fix this?

Well maybe that export is just exporteded like that.
I used to export from max as a Quake 3 model since thats the only one that I found that support both.
So then I put it in milkshape.
:o DISORTED!!!
So maybe just get a different exporter.
