ok, I am having trouble trying to combine 2 surfaces with each other in 3ds max 6. I have tried welding, i am not sure if this is what you are supposed to do but when i try it, it says that there are no verticies in the weld threshhold, even though i have selected verticies
help

have the veticies on top of eachother in the exact same spot then highlight all of those and select weld...it wont work unless they are directly ontop of eachother

ok... basically when i press select open edges, it selects this tiny little grid under the level which i have no clue what does. When i try to delete the ope edges, it deletes half of the surfaces in the level... here is a picture.. HELP!

Please someone help
Pie, Can I send you the max file? Maybe it would be easier to figure out what the problem is that way

you are supposed to weld-
practice welding:
if you want to weld 2 vertices then i suggest that when you are in a 3d program, make two boxs & weld them. to weld, click a vertice & drag it to almost the exact location of the other one that you want to weld it to, now hilight both vertices & click weld...if it says no vertices in weld threshold-then you didn't move it to the right location-so click undo weld & then move it until it allows you to weld. i would recommend that you press f3-if you are using 3ds max-so that you don't see the faces because it makes it easier to place the vertices...
you will soon get good at welding & be able to weld multiple vertices without haveing to move each vertice one-by-one.
well....i hope this helped you guys out with your questions & all!
& that is the welding tutorial folks-thank you very much, i'm here till thursday!!!
thanks,
Oxy
