Question about adding textures

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Question about adding textures

Post by Samio »

When i add a texture to something in 3ds max by using the material editor I drag and drop the texture onto the object i want to apply the texture too but the object just turns gray, i don't know if this is supposed to happen but i wanted someone to imform me if its not. :)

sorry you haven't gotten an answer already. what you ahve to do is go right under the modifiers tab and click the button that says (if you hang over it) show finished product or something like that. then your bitmap should appear on it. thats so you can model and still see the texture. but if you don't want to see it when you're modelling then go in the modifiers tab and click on uvw map. then it should show. hope that helped. i do have to admit that these forums here have gone to hell full of flamers and total jerks. we are all noobs in the beginning so don't take any shame in it.

Click the checkerbox icon in material editor for it to show up in perspective.
