model quality isn't just how it looks in the end. it's also how it's constructed. if it has a bunch of lines dividing a poly multiple times because it's a spline turned into an editable, and it's not cleaned up, well, it sucks. it's simple.

good looking + good construction = good model

good looking + bad construction = bad model

bad looking + good construction = bad model

That's why I hate spline modelling. My models end up looking like messy pieces of shit in terms of construction.

then optimize by hand. now, i usually don't have to optimize much after plane modeling, and tha's why i hate spline. too much extra random crap... that's also why i hate boolean.

it makes the entire mesh fubar if it is a complex weapon part (like the receiver)

render with mentalray, ad make reflections falloff, and make a skylight :)
gives you nice results :P

your renders... are UGLY. it doesn't give you nice results, the details and surfaces get washed out. you make bad... very bad renders.

no.. its the render

do a render with a skylight with intensity .5
a omni ontop of the sky with ray traced shadows
and an omni above the sky behind the model with ray traced shadows

turn on advaned lighting

^^^ that gives you the best results

2. Click render
3. MAKE SURE IT IS ON DEFAULTS
4. Click Ok

Anyways, Tabasco's vanished but he's supposedly going to render it as well, he was also going to animate while Reaper skinned. Updates soon. I hope.

Try to get clay render style renders they look way better even with skin. :D
