Material editor?

I'm pretty sure this is the right topic/forum place.... anyways... In the tutorial on map making (demonstrated with 3Ds Max 5), they show a material editor. Where is the button/ pull down menu for this in 3ds Max 6? Thanks in advance,

at the top, you gotta scroll the toolbar over i think

anyways, what i do is just hit the M key on your key board, its much simpler
