when i started skinning i thought it was pretty easy.....i figured out on my own how to do it......but ill tell you.....ok, im guessing you got hmt 3.5, if not you need that, you also need something like paint shop pro or adobe photoshop, if you dont want to buy the software (or get it for free

) then you can get a trial, you also will need the .dds plugin for photoshop or w/e program you are using....open hmt, go to lets say bloodgulch, go to the bitmaps tag, scroll down to (i think its) vehicles/warthog/bitmaps/warthog tires ,or something like that, hit save texture, i would make a texture folder (if you are planning on to skin a lot of things) and inside make a backup folder, save the texture to the backup folder, now open up the warthog wheels in paint shop pro or w/e you are using, if it asks you if you want to see the mitmaps say no, now go to google/image and search for your rims, once you find them right click them and copy them, go to paintshop pro (or w/e your using) and paste as a new image, you need to cut out your rim to a decent circle, so you go to the left side and click the arrow next to the select box (the little dashed box) and select the magic wand, you will probably need to mess with the tolorance until you get your rim cut out good, now click the pan tool on the left ( the white arrow) and select your cut out rim and copy it, go back to the warthog wheels you opened up earlier and paste as a new layer, and go to the select box (if not already selected) and drag it over your rim, move it where needed, if you need to adjust the size of the rim, while its selected, select the deform tool on the right (box under the white arrow) and resize the rim if needed, when you got your rims how you want then save it, but dont save it in the backup folder (if you made one) save it in the other folder, so you dont overwrite it, some messege will come up saying because of limitations.....blah blah blah...... hit yes, and save it as a DXT1 (1 bit Alpha), and hit save, now open hmt and go to the bitmaps tag, scroll down to vehicles/warthog/bitmaps/warthog tires and hit inject texture, locate where you save the file and inject, there you go, you got new rims
btw to find out which dxt the bitmap is, when you select the image in hmt above the image it will say, for example, DXT1(43704 bytes ).....so thats how you know what to save your image as
i hope this helped you
