Possible problem while making terrain?

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Possible problem while making terrain?

Post by black_light »

Well i have my mountains down roughly but i have a question before i go on further and possibly waste alot of time. When i was creating the mountains the walls got kind of out of shape. Is this going to mess up my map in the end? here is a pic to see what im talking about.Image

What happens when you load it in sapien? Do you see the thing in there? If not I would not worry.

yeah i made a bridge and that surface showed up so i checked all the vertices. they were all fine and in the right place so i couldn't really figure out the cause. I don't think it will mess up your map as in getting errors when compiling it. Its just sky, no ones gonna touch it.

Well, i just found out what is making this problem. When you go to make the mountains all jaged and bumpy only select the TOP faces on the new raised "box" shape you have. DO NOT select the slanted "wall" poly's or it will result in this. I'm not sure at the moment if it is bad or not but if you dont want it to happen thats how to prevent it.

they skybox can actually be in any shape that you wnt it to be. it can be all fubar'ed(or fucked up beyond all recognition for you noobs out there) also. i can attest to this. just make sure that there are no faces that overlap eachother. just run a stl check on it to make sure.
