WIP:Jarhead WELCOME TO THE SUCK

Post by Lowallyn »

okay i started on my jarhead map i had the idea to make it like almost flat desert..and if you wander too far you wont get back

first i just did it as a flat box to see what i could do; then i went back and added some small dunes and tried to export it as a jms and my gmax died and now i cant even open it :( yea ill have to get that

this was my first scenario ever so i jsut messed around in Sapien

Things I will do with it:
vehicles; humvee and maybe some sort of dune buggy
weapons; more human weapons, wow just looking around this forum i have seem some crazy models, that i probably wont get to use but one can always wish..
biped: i wanted to add a real marine bipd but gmax doesnt do the biped thing so... unless someone helped

i am also gonna start a base made up of tents ect..

now if i am correct you can make planes in gmax that when the master cheif touches them you are teleported.... which would be useful for "getting lost"

EDIT: and i was gonna implement jesus walks but..

- A pitch-black, smoke filled sky.

- Huge columns of flame spouting from the ground (designated areas that spawn the flamethrower projectile, except much wider, and with the firing sound swapped with that of the regular fires on the T&R and PoA). Also, if you step into them, make it so that you sink into them, die, and then get shot back up into the sky(scripting from the lava-pools in Lolcano).

- Keeping with the columns of flame, also make them spout the slime that drips from the ceiling in 343GS, color it black (like the raining oil from the movie), re-color the patches where it hits the floor, and for more cool rain effects, enable dynamic weather (environmental rain), and if you can, color that black too. Very probably a tad difficult, though...

- Lastly, make random black puddles along the floor and, you guessed it, color those black also.

Anyway, besides being difficult and next to impossible, they're just suggestions and it's your map. Kudos and keep up the good work.
Dat's me! YAY!

The song can be done, you've just messed up somewhere. Tabasco put I Won't Back Down into our modded BG, so you should be able to make it work.

As for the map... some variation of terrain would be good...

Yeah, it looks kind of bland gameplay-wise. Playing in a giant open space could get old quick.

Too True. mb needs to be more condensed A huge flat map like htis will be boring as hell. You could drive point to point and have no one see you, not to mention, you'll never be able to cross the middle if Snipers are enabled

What this needs? Some hills and ditches, craters, puddles, etc. to give cover and variation in terrain. Some trees and rocks and such for the same purpose. Fog and/or weather particle effects, to limit vision distance and make it more suspenseful and less of a sniper whore's paradise *glances around and pretends not to be a hypocrite*

That's what big maps need, but almost never have. If Hugeass or Coldsnap had any cover at all, and some variation in the terrain, Tiamat would be the god of mapping. But alas, he is only the god of large maps and insane sniper rifles

If you're gonna make a desert map, make it look more like this.

your pics dead and liek i said this was jsut a test to see what i could do in sapien; i added the hills and sutff in gmax; tried to export; says ran out of memory, and then now it wont open

big open spaces falt wouldn be fun, but someone hiding on top of a sand dune and sniping down on you i thought would be fun, and to make my custom sky black and have some marine vehicles and iw as planning to make the buring oil fields

EDIT:uhhh lol i reinstalled gmax and it still wont open.... *slight* problem
