Ok, im in dire need of some assistance. I need to know the following things about modelling:
What to name the animations for primary fire.
What to name the animations for secondary fire.
What to name for turning (all directions)
And how to make the model animations for the boosters (like when you hover)
I need to know these things to finish up my tags for a pelican that pics up warthogs. Yes, it pics up warthog. I just need to know how to make these animations for it. Original Thread here: http://www.epg.epgservers.net/bb/index. ... =3658&st=0
Any help would be appreciated an possibly a beta position
You cannot, to my knowledge, pick up a vehicle with another vehicle. The Pelican picked up warthogs and dropped them off in the Halo campaign because a script would attach the warthog to the pelican. Most scripting does not sync over Halo CE's netcode, so this idea is going nowhere, unless you make it for a solo map.
ACtually, you can.
Ever notice how you can "Carry" a ghost with a scorpian if you drive the ghost up top?
Its like that, only a ring of mass points will encompas the wheel of hog, make four of this rings, and you can grasp a hog, and lift it.
The problem is with the animations. You need an animation for either grabbing and deploying, or something you can hold down to grab, release to drop.
so bacon..and BTW, bacon was the one who helped me with this. Im getting it textured and a vid up soon.
FOR ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN BANNED:
Just log out of your account. You can then see it. (i can tcopy pics...)
but here is something else:
Quoted by myself:
"Ok, Here is what has been done to enable this. The model has been modified to remove those arms made by Teekup. Now, the model has a set of planes on the left, back and bottom where the warthog should be. The planes where then rendered with an invisible shader I created that only had a black aplha channel. This gave the effect of invisible magnets. When the pelican is grounded, the model
XD My ip was banned a long time ago.
Lets see... *read post in "Topic Overview" while typeing reply*
your going to need a big "plane" of spheres.

how well do collision models work in CE with it's physics? yep, good job-it's not that GREAT.
Now, think about scenery that has been made before...like the movable kind. Did anyone else notice that you fall out of things that are in motion(things moving relatively fast...). In conclusion, i'd say that if you tried your idea, it will most likely turn up differently than what you think.
don't get me wrong, it's a wonderful idea...if only Halo had such good physics. Sry to discourage...but maybe you should try it anyways.
potential Problems:
1) Physics & Collision models
2) Allignment - how hard is it to allign the pelican perfectly so it grabs the hog?
3) Annoyance - how gay would it be if you were driving & someone just scupped up your hog? & if you try to get out, you auto-die from the vehicle "touch-me-not" death thingy...LOL.
4) glitching - this tecknique would basicaly allow you to lift alomost anything, inlcuding people...
It was a truly neat idea, but i'm afraid it may not work. But have at it, try as hard as you can, & no one can make fun of your for that. Heh, you could even prove me wrong some day...
Idk.. I think the picking up of an occupied vehicle would be great!
And if you have big enough mass points, nothing goes through them. A plane of almost touching ones? Impenetrable.
Yes, you could pic up anything. But is that necessarily bad?

And there goes bobby! NO!!!!
wow, i can't wait to see this in-game. i also can't wait to see someone make a gravity gun with this.
main fire sends out 10 collision balls (really tiny ones) in a 1-2' wide pattern. after 20-40 feet, they disperse and return to the gun one-by-one (along the same path the used before) to reduce chances of accidental collision. secondary fire sends out said collision spheres to a certain distance (with paths designed to reduce accidental collision) where they assemble a net of sorts, come to you, and before getting within 10 feet of the gun, they close into a sphere to secure the object and stay 5 feet in front of you. when you release secondary fire, the collision spheres disperse and return to your gun in a one-by-one sort of order.
(that would work better with collision sphere on/off swithces of some sort)
or maybe, a hog that jumps! a single plane on the bottom panel of the hog (or maybe inside it a bot) speeds down out of the hog 10 feet, waits half a second, then comes back, essentially boosting the hog into the air whenever the right mouse button is clicked.
ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>
always remember: guilty until proven innocent
I was just on EPG (From a free wireless network in a remote location) and i noticed i wasnt mentioned in teekups topic about this... Im the one who explained to him how to do this with the ring of mass points encompassing the wheel...

You are possibly going to get a few people to do it all and not do it yourself.
If you dont know those four things, then i dont even think you got a chance at making a pelican that picks up warthogs.
