Photoshop or Paintshop?

Photoshop or Paintshop?

Since I have decided to start making maps, I have 3DS MAX 7 and i know I also need Paintshop or Photoshop. Which do you think is better to use? If there is another program you recommend that is better, then tell me which it is. Also, I want to use it to edit .dds files in Halo PC.

I'm no expert, but I've pulled off about the same things with both programs. It's just user preference. Some things are easier to find in PS than in PSP, and vice-versa.

I have no idea how to use PS, my PSPX trial just quit and I feel lost because PS confuses me.
