Meh

Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

You know, I don't model, and I really don't intend on getting into modeling, but this question has been killing me for the longest time now. What is a Poly? Is it like a cubic pixel, since this is 3d?

I'm not sure but i think a polygon is a triangle out of three vertexes.Or is it the vertex itself?

a polygon, in geometric terms is any flat surface with at least 3 sides (3 sides=triangle 5 sides=pentagon 6 sides=hexagon 8 sides=octogon, and I can't remember the rest from freshmen geometry, but any polygon over 13 sides is an n-gon, n being the number, so 13 sides=13-gon, 1,000,000 sides=1,000,000-gon). Although in terms of modeling a poly is a three edged face (triangle) because that is the simplest polygon and how games proccess 3D models.

A simple box has 12 Polys.Cause every face of the box has two triuingula pieces. Its easier to work with triungulars in 3d environments cause you can have better meshes.

actually oyu shouldnt get polygon get mixed with what a 3d polly is its different, a polygon is the face fo a 3d object what we call a polly/poly is the whole object, and i remember highschool mathmatics easy considering im taking it still(freshmen year is awesome!)

A polygon is a face, the entire object would be a polyhedron. 3 faced object = tetrahedron, 5 faces = pentahedron, 8 faces = octahedron.

Ya, poly for short, but when they say poly they usually mean polygon, and by polygon, triangle.
