Aight y'all I've built my piece and wanna post it here! But, it appears you guys don't like unskinned models aye? Thing is, I don't know how to skin. I have photoshop, but I don't know how to create skins for models! For instance how do you put stright edges into a pic or skin? All photoshop seems to have is dumb brush tools that won't do sqaut if you're trying to make a hard defined edge!
Is there a way to create a font you can use in your picture, or skin? The tutorials say there is, but I can't figure out how!
No, I don't want no dumb 'how to make wood' tut, I need something I could use to make a good skin. Tha models for a movie I might make, and it needs a good one, but this model is a space ship. A 'capitol' ship you might say. Quite large in size, covered in armor smooth and flat surfaces everywhere, yah get me?
How might I get around that stupid brush alays making my color darker whenever I unclick, and click again? I click, hold it down as I 'paint' my pic, but then when I un click and click again to touch up some edges, it jsut leaves this darned blasphamy on my project! Yah know, darker color than it was last time?
This model of a ship needs a good one, it needs blast marks, it needs wording, it needs shiny surfaces! Do you hear me marine?

you have to create a UV map for your model.
makes your 3d model into a flat image.. uhmm.. it's kinda like how you see like a dds bitmap in halo pc.
Katarn has a tutorial on his site.

I appreciate the help, but I want to know how to skin. Not apply it. I'm trying to load the page, and I have not seen the tut yet, but I'm pretty sure it's just howm to create a UVW. I need to make a skin, you know, paint it, so to speak.

I watched the tut vid. But, I don't have a clue what I'm doing and how to do it! It took me like 15 mins to figure out how to select the faces! Say I'm selecting the Z axis, wat faces do I select?! What about angled faces?!
I mapped it, and all I got was this big box on the screen with a cra load of lines and vertices going around it!
