I find that when I make a gun in 3ds and it has multiple parts in it, when I put it ingame, I get a strange view of the gun.
It's very unlike how it should've been, and I actually 'view' near the bottom of the gun, instead of where the head (frame bone 24) should've been.

Did you use the camera perspective to test the actual location in the camera / fpview. I've noticed that the bottom in the camera is not the same as the actual in game view. You'll want to shift things up from the actual fp view.
