Using material in max5

Post by SilverStone641 »

When i make a multi-subobject in max5, i make the top layer +sky and the bottom layer ground. I use a butmap on the ground and a blue color on the sky layer. But, when i apply this to my sky box, and UVW Map it, i only see the ground bitmap, The sidewalls, or sky, doesn't change color.

Thanks for any help possible

Go to Views at the top and go down to Activate All Maps. That should fix it. Or go to each submaterial and click the show map in viewport box.

damn it your right, i totally forgot that part. Thanks!

BTW, for instancce, if i imported an entire mesh object from sparkedit, how would i go about applying different textures to different things? I mean, how would i use multiple textures, one for the ground, one for the sky, etc. Is the easiest way, to use ID's?

thanks again for not flaming me like somebody did in my other question.

hey, when i'm in perspective, and i select the move tool, those Red Green and Blue bars don't appear anymore! It's nearly impossible to move things properly without em. Is there a way to turn them on and off?
