Finish a new model/mesh? Got something you're working on? Finish a new map? Here's the place to post it for feedback and whatnot.

Teams of AI

Post by SteelixB »

Hey, I've managed to get bots into my map, and I've got them to fight each other in 2 teams. However I cant seem to figure out how to get the teams to be red vs blue, so you don't get attacked by your team and the other team, just the other team. What I mean is having 2 teams of bots like in the boxedin map where the team doesnt attack you if you're on their team

Also, how do I change the colors of the teams? Do i have to make 2 sets of tags for both teams with different colors, or is that done automatically when setting the teams up like I said above.

Lastly, I noticed that in the boxedin map an animation is played when the bots spawn... how is this done?

Sorry if I sound really n00bish with these questions (I have already searched the forums before I ask, unlike many other people), but I'd really appreciate it if someone could help me out, my guess is my probelms are easy to solve
(My sig was too big. It should have been 400 X 200 with 3 lines or less of text)

No it wasn't... It was 370 x 117 and one line of text... *Remakes sig*

i dont know if you can set teams for the bots, cept for things like player, flood, elites. stuff like that. i dont think red vs blue is possible right now, but you could try just some bots on player team and some one flood team for now.

well it seems to work fine in the boxedin map so it must be possible

For color changing I found that you need a biped and an actor:varient (I might be wrong about the biped) I beleive that you should have 2 different actor or actv and put them both on Player. As cyborg_mp is on player, and if you don't see them as an enemy I don't think they see you as one.

well what i did for my map is i made one group with a team index of 0 and the other with 1 and it seems to work fine for me. also there are only 2 colors you can get unless you create your own biped. cyborg is green, and cyborg_mp is white.
