More "HTFOR" info, but no screenshots.

Post by Spartan III »

Seeming as i haven't posted for ages about "Halo: The Fall of Reach" for a long time since that beta demo, i thought i'd give some details now. And sure, it isn't no Halo 2, but if it comes out before then it will be a starter or PC only people may enjoy it. I am just posting this info in hope that some of you will stay faithfull to this game, rather than hugging the highly repetitive Blood Covenant game on consoletroopers.com

Anyway, time for me to spill some beans:

*There will be double weapons.
*There will be a useable energy sword...and...wait for it...double energy swords! Harder to use, but effective.
*Enemy AI improved, maybe they will search around areas.
*Original maps for multiplayer, like a volcano area one.
*More than two types of grenade.
*Maybe new vehicles, but i need ideas.
*Multiplayer split screen should definitelty be in version 1.0, and online play, if it arrives will be in version 1.5.
*Thanks to Sepiku, there are new and better sprites, although the Grunt and Spartans probably will be the same.
*Vehicles should be destructible.
*Plasma grenades will stick.
*Maybe a pilotable Pelican by default.
*There will be tons of minigames, most of them hidden.
*It will come with some cool artists MP3's in the multiplayer soundtrack (probably).
*The download should be pretty big, so if you are on 56k, i may be able to mail it to you.

There will be more, so i'll update if i remember them. Too bad this game that i've spent about a year on isn't getting as much attention as mods that took about 4 hours. Sure, MonoxideC has done plenty for us and got $1000 dollars on the library, that took him a couple of months. But a year? :(

( if you do not have the beta demo, get it here: http://www.halo-scene.com/download.php?view.154 )

Thanks for reading, expect screenies soon, and perhaps videos.

It depends on the amount of kick ass MP3's i use. V1.0 should only have MP3's from the Halo soundtrack so it won't be as big but still big.

LMAO! The beta demo was 4MB. Expect the first release to be in the 50MB or more region. So, i may be able to send it on disk...if you want.

But don't get me wrong, it's still a long while off being released.

Well, yeh, I did not know the original size...normal mp3's are about 3 MB...so it was a guess...but still barable on dialup..I will download it when it comes out...

Does anyone care for my game that i've worked on for a year? Or do you care for a 2 hour mod? *gets shot*

I love it how you insult the blood covenant game. Your acting like a 12 year old. The BC beta kicked your betas ass. Maybe your was an alpha, but the beta wasnt very good. BC looks better, but in all reality, yours has better gameplay.

After a while, I started to think about creating my own 2D Halo Game but when I saw what was needed to create one, I quit. But before I did that, I had a lot of concepts for the game that are still collecting dust on my shelf. Spartan III, so you need ideas? Well, I'd be glad to help you. Anyway, the summer is coming and I am purchasing a hosting package to host my new website. It will have unlimited bandwidth and disk space so I'd be able to host a version of your game on my site. PM me or drop me an IM on AIM or MSN (I'm not on a lot and I'd prefer a PM, besides, it's probably faster). Good luck and I hope you don't pass this chance up.

Thanks for the generous offer, as on my site the most i can upload is 15mb, so i'll probably need to take the offer! :D I'll keep you informed.

You have two opinions in one post. :? Yes, Blood Covenant has graphics to drag my game across the floor with, but i personally didn't like the gameplay. No, i don't have a grudge against it just because "there's a game out that's better than mine", i just don't like the lack of gameplay value. The bad Grunt AI and the fact that they helplessly walk towards the captain. Sure, the AI isn't amazing on TFOR, but at least i've informed you guys that it will be far better in the full version.

...and furthermore, Blood Covenant was made from a template. a template. where's the skill in that? it was probably made in 2 hours. HTFOR kicks BC's ass.

and if j00 needz space, give 125mb.com an http GET.

Yeah, i think the template was Half-Life 2D. I might try 125mb.com when the time comes, but i have already been offered somewhere, so it depends. Thanks anyway.

Well, at least that's only the second negative opinion i've had about the demo. But, please may you tell me why, and then i'll make changes. And yes, the full version will be better. I can't even call the first demo a game, it's just an engine tester. Read what's at the top on the thread and you'll see all the changes that are coming.

And if you're going to tell me a reason why the demo wasn't any good, please don't make it "Teh Grunts were too hard", because i have explained 1000 times that the Grunts will be improved, and no one listens. The Grunts are easy to kill anyway...

it takes some practice to get the grunts down. I can get all of them except for the turret.

and yes, if you say it sucks, either
1. explain why
or
2. kiss my ass
