'Halo: The Fall of Reach' - May

Finally! Another update! I wish that it had more in-game footage; unfortunately, it doesn't actually have much from the ACTUAL gameplay, but it does have stuff from other parts of the games. There's going to be so much variety in the game.

First thing I need to introduce to you in this update is a Windows Operating System mock-up, known as Windows YZ. It's kind of a parody of Windows, and as the game runs in full-screen, it looks quite similar. There might be small 3D sections where you can walk around and interact with things. A computer might be one of them? *cough* Second Sight *cough * Timesplitters 3 *cough*.

Here are some early screenshots. Don't mind the green circle around 'My Computer', it's just a collision detector that I couldn't be bothered removing when I took the screenshots.

Oh, and there's no mouse cursor on any of them because the print screen button doesn't capture the cursor.

Main Windows YZ, no Windows open/Programs:

Hehe, you'll probably notice that the Windows YZ theme is based off the Style XP theme that I have on my home desktop right now.

----

Now here's something else. I don't actually have any footage of the tool itself as I have only been developing it for a couple of days so far, but I'll show you what I've done. Basically, it's called 'ReachEdit' and it will come supplied with 'The Fall of Reach'. Here is what it should be able to do:

i) Create Single Player maps. Single Player maps can be more advanced than Multiplayer maps, and will allow players to create the obvious things, such as AI, text, scenery, and the actual level itself, as well as injecting custom music, and possibly custom graphics. I might allow maps to be linked to each other, ultimately, allowing the creation of entire Campaign games.

ii) Create Multiplayer maps: Multiplayer maps will be able to be created with all of the common gametypes, and I might introduce a few more. Because the filesize of user-created Multiplayer maps will be so small, if someone were to host a game with their own custom made map, players joining would be able to load the map in seconds because of the tiny filesize.

iii) Create First-Person shooting sections: HTFoR will have First-Person sections. They are 2D, but are like mini-games that you'll encounter in the Single Player quest. I shall upload screenshots of these soon.

iv) Many other miscellaneous games will be able to be created using ReachEdit. This will probably be the best built-in mapmaker in a fangame ever created.

Any opinions? Suggestions?

Still looking forward to it.

Just remember to be careful with the 0,0,0 black in MMF.
/me returns to hiding.

EDIT: and just incase you wanted to use your own custom cursor, the control panel's mouse thing has pointers you can easily prtscrn on.

I suppose.

But, I forgot to ask, are you using MOO2 for online or what? I could never figure that thing out. Complicated as ... (I have to check the rules to figure out what I can and can't say...) :P

I am still unsure, I might need to get another person to do this for me, as I don't have much experience with that sort of thing, chances are, it'll use MOO though.

I'm still kinda confused about what it is, is it a whole new OS ? And your making games and stuff, or is it a game OF an OS and stuff?

What ever it looks good

In the time that you've been here, I'm surprised you haven't seen the old posts. Here's one with a concept of the actual game: http://www.halomods.com/forums/viewtopi ... 99&start=0

Like I stated, the "OS" is an extra in the game. As is the mapmaker.

EDIT: You even posted about it in the last thread! You must know what it is! :P

Um, well, I wouldn't compare it to Pokemon. The terminals will be accessed in a 3D view, too.

i dont get it
the fall of reach game....is it actually gonna cost money or is it like gonna be free, or involved with actual bungie or what....

I'd imagine it's free. Spartan III's making it, and I'm pretty sure Bungie has nothing to do with it.

Sure is. I want Bungie to have something to do with it once I have something more impressive to show off. Oh, by the way, Dan. If you ever feel that you could help with something in the project, feel free to PM me. You seem skilled at Multimedia Fusion, and would be a good addition to the team.

Wow Spartan III. I haven't been here for awhile, but I do remember you making this. It's come along way since I first saw your topics. I can't wait till this comes out because it seems to be awsome. Good luck with finishing this project!

Geez, a month bump. Oh well, at least it's a worthy topic.
 Forgot to PM him. I'll wait for June if he updates.
