Halo: The Fall of Reach - February!
Okay, first things first, I'm sorry to announce that I've got no authentic in-game screenshots yet. If you scroll down you'll see that I've made a screenshot showing what Multiplayer COULD be like, and I've also put the game box stuff in there too, and the poster!
The engine is still being worked on, and I've had some other time-consuming projects lately. To add to that, my PC is currently broken. I'm gonna seriously work hard on the engine as soon as I fix it!
The Front and Back cover have actually been made for a school project, but I think they look nice, so I'll make them the games official cover! Also, about that screenshot I've created. It's a concept multiplayer screenshot, and I have not made official plans of being able to control a Hunter, or even an Elite, in multiplayer.
I haven't got much to tell you information-wise in this update, I just thought I'd show you some of the stuff that I've done for the project. In the next update, more information will come.
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention the big decision that I've made lately. This game will contain "The Fall of Reach", "First Strike" and the events in-between TFOR and FS, but back at Reach. You'll be controlling Spartan Fred halfway through the game.

Well, I wasn't being precise, just guessing. An 800mhz could probably run it, I don't know if there'd be NO lag though.MasterNeoChief wrote:Looking even better than before!
Wait, are you serious about the 1 ghz? I've only got 800 mhz!
What do you mean? When I said February, I meant the update month. Hell no, the game aint coming out this month!HunterXI wrote:Then I think it's time to upgrade
So... February, you say? I'll hold you to it

Yes, it's the same general gameplay, but enhanced by about 100%.tack122 wrote:can i be on the beta test?
and is th is the same think that a very early beta was released a long time ago?
When the time comes, if there's any "absent" exisitng beta testers, I'll hand the place over to someone else in the line. (ie. you)
...Yes there was. And indeed, it was rushed and crappy.HunterXI wrote:There has never been a beta up to this point.
Other than my PC being totally fucked by some stupid virus, which seems to add bytes to EXE files, rendering them useless, no. If I can't find a way to get past this thing (I reinstalled XP and wiped the HD and made new partitions THREE DAYS AGO), I'm afraid there's not really a way I can continue the game. I think the old files that I copied contained it, so I'd better restart the things and NOT copy ANY of the old data onto it. If this thing has affected the source of HTFOR, I'm gonna go to the creators and kill them with my own bare hands.HunterXI wrote:So anything else for the update, this month?
I am actually making my own engine, but getting pointers from the source of a pretty popular free online game called "Aliens Infestation 2".kaptainkommie wrote:What engine are you using or did you use/modify?

If you're using C/C++, you should check out the Allegro gaming library here:
http://alleg.sourceforge.net. It simplifies alot of things needed for a game engine, especially graphics, sound, sprites, etc. You'll obviously still have to write most of the actual engine yourself, but you can use Allegro for the drawing and such. Its very portable too, in case you care about putting out a Mac or Linux version.

Multimedia Fusion (the tool i'm using) is basically a tool where you use much easier commands which are then turned into the real C++ commands. It has an easy graphical interface too. But, to get the genuine C++ source code of my game, I'd have to contact the makers of Multimedia Fusion, Clickteam. ...And I'm not so sure if they'd be up to doing that.kaptainkommie wrote:If you're using C/C++, you should check out the Allegro gaming library here:

I wish this game would be portable, but right now, it doesn't look that way. I'd love to play it on the Xbox. After all, C++ apps can be ported to Xbox, correct?
I am currently trying to learn the real C++. I'd rather use MMF which would take less time to make an engine with so I have spare time to work on the music + storyline + levels than spend AGES making an engine with C++.
