Breaking News about leaking killa1 and bobtheleaker
Today I was given a much needed break from schoolwork. So I decided to have a little game of halo. I searched through the lists of servers on CE, and tried to find a killa1 server like usual. I found one and joined hoping to have an enjoyable game to cool my nerves. Instead I got the opposite. A player named OBI-WAN was there playing. The game started out ok, then OBI-WAN brought up the subject that he got a leaked copy of the level. He starts telling me how he got the map from a

To jay:
Ya, i found that a little strange too. I think he ment to say that he wants to beta new builds of the map.
To snake:
We will not release a beta because killa1 is not even the real map. Its just a test one.
To rabiv88:
Good idea but we already thought of it.
To the ppl who r talking about dynamic ip's:
It is so easy to get out of a block on a site with a dynamic ip and/or wireless internet(like me ). One the ip changes regularly. Two, every time you get connection from a different wireless signal, the ip changes to match that of the router(?). Three, u can use a proxy server to bypass it.
To everyone:
If u play a game with him, shadwolf, or Yancemooso, flame them as much as possible and tell them u will hate them if they leak.

if you turn of your brodband modem you will get a new IP when u turn it back on...just ban the IP range...kasper4christ wrote:usuall a dynamic IP (like f you have cable or DSL) address doesn't change that much, usually only a few times per month, so if they act quickly..daevltimi wrote:not if he has dynamic ip it cant, which i bet he does.
Whoa, ive played shadowolf alot and he doesnt seem hostile about leaking a map at all... and equinox thats exactly what i was thinking cus i have McAffe and i get a hacker like every hour so whenever i get a hack form like a slicghtly different ip i just ban the range and HAHAHA THEY CANT HACK ME MUHAHAHAHA!!! but banning the range then it should work just fine for a while until his ip changes out of the range... but yes thats really ur best option.
btw, i dont think shadowolf is as evil to do that... hes actually pretty nice when i play him... either that or hes silent all game.

Wonderful guys. Wasting more of our forum space. What do you think we can do about someone leaking a map? Not a damn thing, he'll put the shit on his own webspace if nobody will allow him to upload it to theirs. And he certainly doesn't need the forums to distribute it. I've said this before and I'll say it again. The reason there are leakers is because these different 'mapping' teams fail to pick trustworthy members for their beta team. Until these teams because to get smart enough to pick trustworthy members, there will always be leaks.
True. Kiddies, in the future, please just give beta to your most trusted friends, and this will never happen, I promise.kaptainkommie wrote:Until these teams because to get smart enough to pick trustworthy members, there will always be leaks.
But Kaptain, I do think that was a little harsh... Rough day?

Every single PC has two ips. One static/dynamic ip, and one internal ip (i think that's how it's called). In all of my expiernces of getting banned, my internal ip was banned. the internal ip doesn't change and it's not very easy to change it, if possible. btw, heres a scrpting tut i found: http://www.freewebs.com/desphm/HS_Bible.htm
You really can't ban an "internal ip", except maybe on a LAN. Those are only referenced by computers on your immediate network, so Halo won't even use it. They're probably just banning your IP range.digital71 wrote:Every single PC has two ips. One static/dynamic ip, and one internal ip (i think that's how it's called). Or maybe I'm just a networking n00b.
