To further support the Halo for PC game community UXB Internet has launched a new Halo centric website called Halo Maps www.halomaps.org.

Designed as a map and file archive for the Halo Custom Edition for PC game the Halo Maps website also offers a web based users forum for discussions of Halo and HaloCE map design, the UXB Internet HaloCE File database archive, local website news, status on the Halo servers and links to video game news and other Halo web sites around the web.

Included with each map file are up to two screenshots of the map, a short description and available authors notes.

Authors can submit their maps, movies, utilities and halo specific files through the website after a minimual registration (name and email address). File submissions are open to all authors of Halo maps, Halo utilities and Halo videos and they are encouraged to register and upload their creations.

The Halo Maps user forums include a new map announcement and discussion section, Halo map technical discussion forum and a general Halo users forum. New forums will be added as needed.

The UXB Internet/ Halo Maps Halo server database currently lists over 200 Halo and HaloCE servers. New servers are periodically added to the database, however visitors may also add their server by entering the IP and Port numbers in the "Add your Server" section on the home page. The database checks the status of all servers twice a day and keeps a count of the consecutive times it was unreachable. If the server is unreachable more than five consecutive times (2 and a half days) then it is automatically deleted from the database.

The Halo Maps website is located at www.halomaps.org (not .com) and is owned and operated by UXB Internet.

With all due respect I have to ask how does having another file archive website available for you to download from "tear the community apart"?

I am not sure how you read into the post that www.halomaps.org was an attempt to defame this or any other Halo centric website because it isn't. It is just another place to download Halo specific files. You need not visit it, download from it or participate in the few forums that have been setup. Its presence will in no way detract from the Halo community you belong to nor will www.halomaps.org enter your home to steal your mojo if you don

he's right, its only a repository, we could just link to Downloadables from this site.

And just so you know Leo, the moderators on this site are somewhat quick to judge (because of a long history battling n00bs), so I'd be a little careful saying such things.

Wow. At first I was going to recommend that you visit the website because most angry people benefit from the Mojo sapping properties we employ to power our servers. However from the vehemence exhibited in your response it is obvious that with that much anger and pent up angst there may be some technical issues we would need to look out for in the mojo sapping routines.

We tried to limit the amount of mojo the website takes from everyone but considering how mojo works we couldn

I am seriously interested in this - no joke - what exactly are the repercussions of more Halo CE websites? Can you (calmly) explain them to me?

I too am honestly confused why another file repository is *bad*. its just a place to store files... Its a vault, not a building.

Sorry for that confusing typo.

To extend your logic I then must ask why is there more than one burger shop in town or more than one bank, or more than one video game retail store? For that matter why is there more than one town?

How can another website with Halo CE map files available cause the downfall of the entire Halo community? How can having more choices make Halo less? Why is there such vehement opposition to letting others choose where they can get their files? And just when did I start writing everthing in question form and how do I stop?

ohhh g*d. thats what we just need. a real human in this world. we do not need real humnas. and to me it seems like you dont want to be flamed because your a wimp(no offence is intended in any of this crap). mojo. hah thats a new one. but you see. the reason of alot of burger kings towns w/e (in reality) is to make travil/traffic go through easyer.
how would you like 1 huge burger king bank w/e. but on the web you only need around 10. no more and no less than 2.

ps: y do you type with a

after avery two lines? i hope the answer is not proper english.(i hate english class)

btw y did you put your name in. thats(here comes ljbada) violating the TOS?(terms of service)

The server is not to bad; we used one of our auxiliary web server boxes. It is a Dell 2U rack mount dual Pentium 1.2g with 2 gig of memory and 4 36gig drives configured in a Raid 5 array for failover.

Now as for bandwidth, that is another story. We do this as a hobby (because several of our friends and employees like Halo) for free and accept NO advertising on the website to fund it.

I know it's not cool or anything and hard for some to accept, but our main purpose for existence is to service our (paying) clients and pay our bills. The halo community isn

It's a nice looking site :) and I can't honestly believe some people around here.. seems as if they don't like change or new things. The halo CE community needs more sites rather than stick it around a few massive sites.. another thing this community is missing is affiliation on all sites with others. If you'd go to any gta site they'd have a minimum on 10 affiliates which just builds on a community of sites..

Anyway as I was saying, nice work with the site

Oh god, well, I guess my typo pwned me...

What I actually meant to ask was why it was bad to have another vault. Sorry about that confusion there. I support you fully and question Leo's logic.

And perhaps you should ask the guy who wanted you to guarantee 64kb download speeds to pay for said line

This site is one of the best sites I know out there, also it works with halospy CE making it the easiest way to download many maps.

No one bad mouth this site.
