I was actually talking about how having two forums is inefficient...

I'd rather have the site kept as is.

We're trying to form and even larger halomods community, yet the community that we do have is split in two. Doesn't make too much sense.

Because you're all for it :o

Jk, because they are like two completely different communities now, and it would take soo long for them to be able to merge successfully, I think it would push a lot of people out. But, ont he other hand, I don't dislike the idea that much, it could bring a lot of good too I guess.

Like I said, It sounds like a personal problem to me.

Personal problems should not get into the way of making the community a better place.

The only reason I have seen so far is that it's going to be difficult or people are just unwanting to, to me those are not very good reasons. Right now I think there are more pros for merging than cons.

A merger or new unified forum is the best way to go if you want this community to improve and move on. It's as simple as that. Letting personal vendettas get in the way is pretty dumb... so if you could put all the hatred aside and think about whats good for halomods.com, maybe you guys would embrace the inevitable change.

If it's inevitable, then why did you even make this topic in the first place?

And before we proceed with this little discussion, I'd like to share a bit of experience with you all. I know several modding related websites on the web and they're all successful on various levels. Their forums are insanely active with HALF as many members as files does. And want to know why? Several factors I'll outline below:

-Non-Segregated community... everything is unified under one roof.
-Registration not required for downloading of files (which is primarily the reason why people register on files... if it wasn't for that, there'd be around 10K as opposed to 40K).
-Tiered, responsible, active staff and owner.
-Non-Strict rule set.
-Other minor things I can't remember at the moment...

What I'm saying is, if we can unify both sides of the site and change the site around, I can guarantee that you will all enjoy it.

Well, my two cents quickly.
I HIGHLY, and I repeat, highly suggest locking the FF and the UF and creating a new forum. IMO, both the places have gone past repair just from the build up of neglect from the staff of now and the past (Yah myself as well, I'll admit). It's nothing that we wanted to do but we all have lives as well and some online community isn't exactly top priority.

But anyways, I think a new begining is exactly what this place needs. Something to remove all the inactive users, spam, flames, and all that good stuff. A larger staff wouldn't be a bad idea either. This will keep everything under control, improve response time in the case of a forum emergency, and lessen the work load for each staff member slightly.

Saying this is a stupid idea just be cause a few people are dicks shouldn't be a reason to not do this. I can name a couple of people over there that I absolutly cant stand but I still support this. Just get over it. You arn't gonna meet people that are always nice guys. It's something called life and if you can't handle that then you need to pull a jks ( Lawler, sorry had to).

At first, I saw this post and was thinking "Ah shit, wtf are they doing now to screw up the community." But if you honestly think about it, and about the future of HM, you realize that this could do miracles for the site.

Oh and btw, I would seriously consider switching to different forum software. I vote IPB.
