Did we figure out what the new emblems are yet? Or are we still in the dark with these?

It's something counter-intuitive that you wouldn't expect there to be an emblem for.

Does it have anything to do with time?

I'm going on a stretch here, but I would expect an emblem for anything relating to words, and I have no reason to have that. I don't have a lot of words per post, a lot of posts per day, nor a lot of posts in general.

But I'm thinking with the moon, it might have something to do with frequent time logged in during later hours. That would be measurable and could be auto-assigned, and would be across-the-board, explaining why newer members and older members got it. And I wouldn't expect an emblem for being nocturnal.

Or, it could be for posts at later times, tying in the names all relating to something with words.

Just a guess.

Well then maybe you would expect what they're for.

I don't post that many words per post either. It has to be something measurable correct?

It is something quantifiable and was awarded through a script, yes.

Through a quick search of your latest posts, DeadHamster, it appears as though you say very little. A couple lines at most. It may, in fact, be how little you write.

But, as many can attest, you also have quite a few posts consisting of a screens-worth of words.

Perhaps that can be said of other people. The emblem was awarded once, and won't be again. The answer can lie as far back as the user's join date.

I guess I would concur, then. It seems foolish to argue about its meaning with the member who already knows it.

Maybe Prey's "Pepper" will offer a hint.

The message I'm working you towards is that you may be including or excluding the lengths of certain members' postings too quickly, as it's difficult for a member to see the length of said posts, especially when the member has a lot of posts. I don't know that a member is able to determine such a statistic without help, so DeadHamster may have many long posts, and I may have many short posts.

I believe a list was made of the people with it a few pages back, I'll pull it up.

Ill get more lists in a bit. But there seems to be a blue one uploaded aswell, its on the server as moonb, but no people are being found with it.

I'll toss everyone a bone: Don't worry about the number or colors of the emblems. Treat all colors as the same emblem, with three standard ranks.

I appreciate the list.

Is the fact that it won't be given out again due to the emblem's nature? Or is it the distributor's independent decision?

It takes a long time to process, and the person who would be giving it out no longer has the ability to, in addition to the emblem system being broken from the changing of the guard. The emblem itself could be given out again, as far as I know, if the person who gives it out was able to and wanted to. The qualification for the emblem can be obtained at any time, if I understand it correctly.

Also worth noting that I don't know exactly what it's for, I just have a good idea that I've been told about. There is evidence that doesn't support what I believe it is, but I've been told otherwise.

I'm thinking... something related to activity. I don't know if the pattern is significant of anything... but...

Green Emblem People - relatively active, or members that were very recently active; but not necessarily a whole lot of posts.
newbymodder, Prey, OmegaMuffin, Milyardo, all people that were active for a time, but probably left slightly before the distribution. But there's Scotty GEE, and we all know he's still active, though he doesn't post as much as some others here.

Purple Emblem People - There's really nobody on this list that I would consider "active." It appears as though most of them left, awhile ago, and I recognize less people than I do on the Green Emblem group.

Red Emblem People - Recognize even less. Zenon? He left so long ago. Ditto for tjc2k4... BrainEater... KOH_Church.

Blue Emblem People - I recognize nobody at all. Their most recent posts are within six months of their join dates. Most joined in '04. coodude25 joined in 2007, though.

It's just an observation. But from my point of view, activity decreases as you follow the list, from group to group.
Tural wrote:There's basically only one emblem. There's only one thing you do to get the emblem. After you have done that thing, your color of the emblem is based on how many posts you have. The colors and numbers just add variety, they're not significant to the emblem's meaning.
Tural wrote:The number seems to simply determine which color you get, and the number is based on your post number. If you have green, you've met the emblem requirement and have > 500 posts.
I actually missed these. Seeing as the color and number are based upon how many posts the user has, I can only assume that the "one thing you do to get the emblem" is related to posts as well.

Possibly you only need a couple LARGE posts. I have a good few posts that are rather long;

http://halomods.com/forums/viewtopic.ph ... 6&p=808003

http://halomods.com/forums/viewtopic.ph ... 3&p=803872

Those are the only posts I have that are long really, except for maybe a couple more, so I'm thinking it might be that meeting the requirement is having a single post with so many characters. The more characters the higher the chevron, and the more total posts you have the "higher" the color.

It's possible... but yet again, Tural would probably have it. And Tural's mention of the difficulty of detecting the reason seems to deny that theory. I can't imagine that a word count is incredibly difficult to process.
