Well, I am still liking the concept of vectoring but I still haven't been able to figure out a GOOD way of going about this.
I finally figured out how the Pen tool works with Shape Layers, and how to use the Convert Point tool, but I still have some logistical things I gotta work out.
Anyways, this is a character from Full Metal Alchemist... my buddy likes the show so I did it for him.
Original:
Vector with black/white background:
Vector with transparent background:
I'm pleased that I don't have holes when it comes to the background showing through, like I did last time, but I still have a hard time figuring out what should go on top of what, so there are overlay issues.
Again--and still--any suggestions would be great.
Note: I would have blown up the vector, but I rasterized some layers without realizing I'd lose the ability to enlarge without losing detail. >_<

Re: Drewing I gone did
The only thing I can really see that's wrong is the color in the eyes, the shapes are a little sharper (not round) than they should be, and are going a tiny bit out of the center of the eye, but that's just me being picky :x
Other than that and a little aliasing, it looks good.

Hole in the hair on the right side of the image.
Shadow on the left ear isn't continuous with the shadow on the face.
A bit of hair outside the lines on the top left.

Actually, if anything, the original just slacked off the drawing process.Tural wrote:Hole in the hair on the right side of the image.
I even have hair on the side of the head! One upped Japanese animators... >_>
You're right on the other two though... I fail. =(

While I was circling the tip of the hair, the thing I was talking about, I just went ahead and did the others for shits and giggles.

A lot of your lines are too thick. You can see this especially with the hair and eyebrows.
