First one looks good.
My suggestions:
Make the yellow a little more opaque, it's sticking out way too much. Find a better font, either that, or work with the one you have. Maybe just put it on soft light or something, play with it for a bit.

Second one:
All together, it's not very appealing. I understand what you were trying to do, but it didn't work out so well. The background is probably the worst part of it all; try to make a background that follows the colors of Sephiroth, yet gives him the darker appearance as well. The fact that he has a blue tint shining on him makes him clash with the rest of the colors in the sig horribly.
Then the text, again, could be worked on a little more.

I'm not seeing this "yellow stream of piss," that was mentioned. I thought Shout was referring to the area directly above Cloud, but that doesn't appear yellow.

You know, about the second one, I really can't see why people don't seem to like that one. I quite like it, myself.

And as for my "past work," I'm not sure as to what I've done in the past. I've "released" a couple atrocious things on Remnant, but I don't believe I've released anything here...

I would say try changing it. Something around your background, but not too far. A tone of light blue, or something.

Just experiment.
