Some advice - updated X2

Backstory/Context:
I've been working on improving my animation skills over the last few weeks on and off. While this has been fun, I've come across a bit of a problem. I need some help with it too. You see, the way my mc is facing and standing, it makes it a little difficult for movements such as walking or running, so I've been trying to make it happen without redrawing everything again.

Actual question:
Do the new legs make him look weird? If so, why? How can I fix them?

update x2
ScottyGEE wrote:Ok, sorry for bumpage...I haven't wanted to boot up Flash for this stuff in awhile - I just didn't like being stuck.

Anyway, I'm here again with an update. Do you think this new chest is better suited for walkig etc? (Sorry, I don't have a animation or anything to base this off... Besides, too many of you were focused on the animation itself, rather than my problem, which was whether the MC [specifically the chest] looked correct doing tasks like walking.

I'll update it with a full body shot and maybe an animation soon.

Before it looked better.
Gives the hole thing a little bit more the feeling of an 3D Space.

The "After" one looks in that way ... eh ...like you wouldnt want to make the left legg new so just copy and paste the another one ^^

Copied and pasted looks even worse believe me.

Its a sticky situation that I haven't been able to get out of. I've drawn quite a few new legs and this is the best looking one so far actually :?

I just want him to be able to run and it just can't work if one leg is facing forward and he runs to th left.

Move his left leg back some. Make it so the foot is flat on the ground, (according to the other foot.) Make the feet parallel.

Bump bumpedy bump bump bump.
Ok, so rather than having the leg on our left sideways as the default pose, I'll keep the old leg. However, for movement, I'll use the sideway stuff.

So how's this?
Default pose on left, wakling animation on right (obviously)

I'd say ignore the hips issue (sticking out)l, but I can't stop you :P

It looks a little odd. Couldn't you just draw him over from a different perspective so he looks like he's not turned awkwardly as he walks? It wouldn't need to be much.
I know that kinda goes against the GEEMC style, but the way he's walking doesn't look normal.

True, but I'm trying my best to not to have to redraw all chests/everything again. :(

But with that, do you think its mainly the angle of the chest?

The pelvis is moved forward to much.

I can't draw for shit so I need someone to help me, I was going to start a new thread but i thought i'd ask you first : P

Yeah, it's really just the angle. If there was a way you could just manipulate that, you should go for it.

With a little image skewing and tweakage I thought this made it look a little better, any further an I'll have to add extra bits onto the MC for depth (cos he's starting to look a little thin and flat) - not that adding a bit of depth is much of a problem, because thats a lot less work than redrawing everything :P

Image
So how is it now? Skew further and add depth? Or is this passable?

Chest needs more skew, back leg is moving a little faster it seems.

Oh! so that's wants on the right :P.
I say give your suit some "flex and distort" room just like the real thing.
Feels too separate...need to make the illusion that its all one piece.

His head is sticking too far forwards, I think.

Actually, I think part of that is that the upper half is too far back.

Edit: A simple 'shop to illustrate my point. It's a subtle change, but it looks slightly less as though he's slouching.

There needs to be more hip-to-spine movement. Shoulder rotations and whatnot to help show that he is moving. Examine yourself while you walk and you'll see what I mean.

The length of time it takes for his right leg to move is a whole lot longer than his left leg.

At least it looks that way.

Scotty, I've always been impressed with your creations. :)

How about having him grapevine when he walks? Or how 'bout skipping? ;p

Make him do the Charleston, please.
