Animationing

Alright...So preparations have begun for ScottyGEE Adventures #5

So I went and recorded all weapon sounds in Halo 3; equip, shoot-single, shoot-burst, overheating, reloading, explosions, all of it.
So I thought I'd get some use out of it while also testing my animtation skillz; seeing if they're up to scratch.

Do you think the animations are alright?
The hardest one was reloading... And if it matters, no motion tweening was used here. I did it all frame by frame.

Motion tweening the left hand as it takes hold of the BR would be better (or you could just add more frames) for the the equip animation. But other wise it looks great!

They look robotic. Make them smoother, and have less of his body standing still. Nobody can hold a gun that still when reloading

They look really good.
I'm guessing you're using "gotoAndPlay (frame)", and "stop()" commands?
If so, set it up so the buttons have no actionscript during the reload/shoot/equip frames, that way you have to wait for the animation to finish before you can play another.

GEEMC and its possible varients will be the only venture into flash games in a looooong time. Its just tedius if GEEMC is used as an example.
As the post describes, this is about animationing for ScottyGEE adventures 5
Thanks for the comments guys...However its a bit hard to fully understand/change my animations according to what you said. Any chance of a more detailed description/purty picture demonstration?

The equip animation is a bit odd when his arm twitches back.
When he reloads it looks like he cocking the scope.
Overall there are some layering issues.
Looks really good otherwise.
I'm not going to lie, if you keep clicking Equip rapidly it is funny.

This looks painful:

Also, the equip and reload animations seem a tad jerky. Maybe making them a little slower wouldn't be too bad.

Nice capture :p Perfectly normal pose!
Anyway, yeah, I wish I could make the animations slower, but the problem is the sounds are so dan fast. I can up the framerate to make things more smooth (but still quick) but I could always, just slow down the sound.

I say slow down the sound if it still sounds right. but still you need more frames to those animations

I like his hat. And yea. The animations are good but they need some touch ups to be great.

If you slwo down the sounds, they get choppy or (depending on the quality of software) Give it a deeper tone.

Not bad for a start. I Suggest you go into halo 3 and just reload for an hour with a battle buddy ( Like me ) to look at the 1st and 3rd Animations.
Movements are exaggerated and rushed. The above may help fix such.
...Or you could go all Matrix and slow it down

I like it

, but yeah the animations need to be a little slower.
