Logo Design Contest Discussion
Re: Official Logo Design Contest Discussion
It shouldn't have been allowed, this competition wasn't run very well at all. There were admissions coming in days after the deadline, mine was only added to the list like three or four days into the contest, once 6-7 votes had already been cast, and other people's logo's were picked in a seemingly random order.
The whole thing isn't really fair at all.
I'm ashamed that this contest was 'official' I'm sorry warlord.

Re: Official Logo Design Contest Discussion
Quite frankly, a design contest isn't mean to be run in as little as two weeks. Even though all that is being designed is a small logo, many designers (myself included) have many other WIP's, allowing too little time to devote to such a miniscule project. warlord, I would like you to reconsider adding an extra week or two to the contest because the advertising (front page) regarding the contest was done far too late, essentially drawing attention to something that was nearing completion. On top of that, I really don't see a problem in extending it as long as there are still quality submissions being added.
And for "fun", I would like to throw another entry into the mix.

Very nice work!Numerical wrote:And for "fun", I would like to throw another entry into the mix.![]()
To be honest though, its not like it really takes that long to make a logo, so the 2 weeks was probably enough. That said, I think the voting has been poorly handled: late submissions and changes, plus no way to preview the images as they would actually look on the site!
Re: Official Logo Design Contest Discussion
Right, but the masses were notified late, compared to those that regularly browse the Graphics topic. and plus, whats wrong with the way everyone has been showing a preview of it by photoshopping it onto the gradient already on the board via screenshot?

Yeah, I think a revote could clear things up a bit.Cuda wrote:Right, but the masses were notified late, compared to those that regularly browse the Graphics topic.
I downloaded the graphic via activity window, and then shopped it in that way for a clean preview.Cuda wrote: and plus, whats wrong with the way everyone has been showing a preview of it by photoshopping it onto the gradient already on the board via screenshot?
Re: Official Logo Design Contest Discussion
Personally I don't give a fuck whether it's fair or not, because I think the look of the site is more important than a contest.

Re: Official Logo Design Contest Discussion
So what if the best image was submitted days into the competition, when 80% of the people who will probably vote have already voted? It wouldn't stand a chance at winning, and it would have been the best for the site. Your logic is so flawed. Imagine if they ran the presidential election based on your logic...Sarb wrote:Personally I don't give a *** whether it's fair or not, because I think the look of the site is more important than a contest.
I'm canceling this contest. I'm sorry warlord, it's nothing personal. It just wasn't handled very well at all. I will be restarting the contest, officially, soon.

Re: Logo Design Contest Discussion
Good call Geo. Also, what you did with the standardization of preview images is great. I'll be tweaking my previous designs slightly and re-entering, but really I see several designs that I like now.
@Cuda, I meant in the voting thread -- not everyone has been paging through the entire discussion thread before they vote.
BTW, I saw you are allowing multiple submissions, but I assume that if each person can submit more than one then the voters must specify WHICH one of your designs they are voting for? If so, people may think twice about submitting 20 different variations, because they may end up splitting their total votes up among them!

Re: Logo Design Contest Discussion
People may have ONE official submission, entered in the format I specified. I meant people can upload more than one, get some criticism or whatever, then by the cut-off date, whichever one is in the format i specified, will be used for voting.
