Outskirts - 4 Player Co-op

there is only 1 real problem with this....the game doesnt know whos team your on....but that just adds to the fun lol

let it be known that from now on....

MPC = Multiplayer Campaign

thanks go to jackson for coming up with the name lol

Instructions:
  • Patch 03a_oldmombasa.map
    Ftp Map To XBox As A Multiplayer Map (eg - coagulation.map)
    Load Yelo with AU Disabled and AI in MP turned on.
    Start a multiplayer game with as many people as you can get (4 splitscreen max, lan doesnt work)
    Enjoy!

I'm pretty sure that if you have more than 2 people in a campaign lobby, it won't let you play. Are you suppose to patch it, and then add it to your mainmenu.map multiplayer maps?

Does playing as an elite work? Like, making your character an elite in the MM.

So can you play through the map like normal with scripts and everything. Or do you have to play it more or less like a multiplayer map with AI?

I'll test this work, however I only have 2 controls (or 3?)...So it may look retarded :P
If the CC of your player doesn't work, I'd love for there to be a way to figure THAT out...So itd be a bunch of MC's all different..

Review time!
This thing is excellent. But its not perfect by any means...Either that or this is more beta-y than anything.

I played with 3 people. Weapons don't spawn (as starters, or the scripted ones to be on the ground, only dead enemies give you weapons. Players turn invisible as soon as they've started movig...AI still notices you and everything, but there's no visual. I believe this is due to it being so many players. Thing like meleeing a dead grunt cause the grunt to disapear due to the xbox probably shitting itself from too much use. LOD's are on low also (this is really what made me think the above).

However what does work: custom cc is really kool (not that you see them). Plus, playing the ai (regardless of lack of FP and 3p models) is really quite kool. Hopefully its just my Yelo, or its some skulls I got on or something, but anyway Nice job :)

Contrary to what jackson said, the game acts as a hrbrid..You still have the MP HUD, still respawn and kill count etc...But everything else is SP

Also for anyone else who's gonna play, yellow team is the marines team ;) (save you trial and error)

It could work if you wanted it to, but you'd need to transfer the mp elite 1st

as scotty said its kind of hybrid. and imo its an awsome hybrid with lots of potential...like i had an idea....a game of team territories where you play with ai assitants to capture the territories

the starting weapons can be solved fairly easy and in the mean time i think you should be able to set your starting weapon in quick options XD
and i'm fairly sure the fp models worked when i did it :? its most likely a lack of resources...-edit: just did a test, if you play as an mc profile you have a fp model but you don't when you play with an elite profile
as for lod's you can always force cinematic ones with yelo :P

Hey look; Tural's prompt :D

There are no starting weapon reflexives so they would need to be added; at least on my map there where none. I never had any trouble with elite/spartan biped settings, maybe your chunk 3 is not filled in properly? (Its the Elites). I never noticed any LODs problems but I was playing by myself. Its expected though since this always happens in splitscreen.

Anyone beat the level yet? Does it just stay in black-screen or does it boot to MM? We need to look into replacing save and quit with "quit" (or end game?) and the flashlight needs a fix, unless it does not? I only ever tested on LAN...

(Simply playing in LAN lobby fuxores with the map badly :| )

I'm converting all my SP maps to MP ones right now :]

Once I'm done everything I'll release my patches.

I do not plan on simply making them compatible though, I want to make them proper for multicreen multi-op; Which means fixing some AI issues, fixing some menu issues, and fixing some starting weapon issues :|

So don't wait up for them patches :p

Best part of all of this is that the patches will be ridiculously small :]

Wasn't H2 campaign always 4-player-compatible? Or am I on crack?

Either way, nice breakthrough guys. I'm looking forward to seeing this when it's been polished and has that nice sleek shine to it.

Don't mind some random teleporting thats just me using yelo on them(The hunters got lazy and decided not to break down the door). Also the video is 30 min long but it loops so the time you watch is about 15 min.

Eh, use WME and Encode to .wmv. Filesize will be much lower.
Also, Mythica is shutting down at the end of February.

This map pretty cool but nothing I havn't done already. Good job though. Get it working like how it would in singleplayer and I will give you a huge double chocolate cookie. :wink:

yep this plays exactly as it would in single player, and with some edits it plays great (although not exact) on lan :D

Could a moderator maybe merge this thread with the one in modding discussion?

Merging doesn't exist anymore in the moderator cp.

I think it was a mod installed or something along those lines. But since the merge it hasn't been here.
