Halo Map Chooser: Customize, Infinite Maps, No Compressing

I came up with an idea. It is very easily makeable i just have absolutely no C++ programming knowledge but anyone that can make an xbox app would be able to make this with ease with my idea. Heres what the app would become.
First off no more halo nmp, this would be what we would use and it would be much better than NMP. Most likly the biggest thing to hit halo modding so far.
1. No more compressing.
2. Easy to customize pics and names. I mean as easy as renaming a folder.
3. Infinite maps in one ui, no more new copies for each 13 new ones.
Thats why it would be sweet ass. If anyone has any C++ programming knowledge and can make an xbox app contact me or leave a reply and i will expain to you how it will work because i have already thought it out and know what would get this to work. Like I said i just cant use C++ programming to put it all together because iv never tried it. Please someone chip in on this it could be HUGE! As long as im given credit for the idea in the end, but whoever makes it would obviously get the most credit, just as long as people know i came up with the idea and the base.

I started C++ a while back, and I know TSF has some C++ knowledge. I also do Visual Basic (which is a lot easier) but I can do SOME C++. MFC SDI, MDI, Dialog. But I don't know as much as a 30 yo programmer would...

Sounds like a great idea although this is in the files forum cough.

I think it's a great idea too... but is this possible?
When hce comes out with the cache restorefunction.. it will be effectively the same thing (without the ui changes). YOu load up hce...pick your ppf and have it automatically write the correct cache to the last used cache drive halo used... no need to load a cache first.
But time is ticking.. aren't we down to 120 something days to halo 2? Rush the modding before it's too late!!

I'm going to keep modding Halo when Halo 2 comes out, so don't forget about the original.
It is possible

Im not sure if I understand your idea... It seems like you can do all that right now. Could you try to explain it better? I'll talk to war3z if he gets it.

I think i have an idea how we can effectively do this with existing methods almost overnight!!!
Start with HCE, first have a command to 'downlod ppfs' from a server to a unified folder and naming structure to your HCE ppf directory... you could udate your list every time you open hce if you like. Each ppf file could have a tag to the correct cache (jumping ahead here but hce will have a cache save/load feature, so hce's saved cache directory will have a clean cache for each map) and automatically load/patch it, or even easier to implement: the name of the corresponding map cache could be on on each ppf, in this case you would go to a mapcache select screen and load and patch the correct cache. The final step would be to have every ppf available in this database to also have a ppf patch for a description of the map in the ui... (The picture seems to be a little more complicated but a description would be good enough) again automatically patched by hce or included as a ui ppf in the map's ppf folder. You then start halo, and your off!!
Now for the overnight part...dash integration. I use ava right now, and they have this wicked autoupdate feature, plus all sorts of download features (xbmc and a couple of other apps can be downloaded and installed easily). AVA has already expressed interest in halo modding, and would probably love to integrate this into an update. Overnight we would have a user base of a few extra thousand!!!!!!!
If kai got in on this, then the app would have kai in there (as every syslink game has access to already through ava). Kai would love this too and set up an arena for this, where xblive headsets could be used to communicate ppfs, or, for non headset users, a simple send chat message option tha allows you to select and send the ppf's name, or if the network code in HCE is ready, there could be an option to patch all the other boxes' caches in a private room or something.
The advantages of this:
1-dummy proof: select ppf, the rest is done automatically.
2-feasability: ppfs are small files, they are alreadty posted online and every other mechanism (except some of hce's stuff) is ready to go
3-Instant user base: when included in an ava autoupdate.
4-An eager set of developers: teamxlink and hce guys friends are always open to new ideas and they both speak very highly of the ava guys too!!
What do you think?
uhhhhhhhh

You lost me lol. Heres what i was thinking: im not going to type out the entire plan but heres the base.
An app that auto adds folders you can rename in a list and you can link it to a directory of your choice like (E:\HMC\Blood Gulch\A Cold Day In Blood Gulch). The list would auto add all the names of the folders. In the folder just put a copy of cache003.map and a picture called pic.png. The app autoloads the pic.png on the pic box and if you press A it takes the cache003.map of the highlighted folder in the list and copys it to X,Y,or Z. You can choose which one in a config.ini file or something. Thats the main idea.

Thats exactly what we are working on...
The system is completly ready now
preview pic,map info, ...
btw network in hce is working, NikeJustDoItOk did a fantastic job on it
we should release the current beta in a few houres before i go away
hex editor isnt completly working but the whole backup system is
it needs some improvement but out end idea is what you are talking about junit0524

If you had something with loads map files then you wouldn't be able to pick gametypes, correct? Because it wouldn't be using ui.map.

Avalaunch integration and unified ppf databse is the key to getting people to use it more though... an autoupdate and BAM!!!thousands of users overnight!! Or simply a ppf autodownload!!!!!! like the mapmanger for r63 in avalaunche!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
